Strength for the Next Step

A devotional on Isaiah 40:31, quoted in the KJV, for weary days when waiting on the Lord and taking the next faithful step are acts of trust.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV

Weariness can make ordinary tasks feel heavy. Isaiah points tired people toward the Lord, whose strength is not limited as ours is. Waiting on Him is not a demand to prove our endurance. It is an invitation to place our dependence where it belongs.

The verse speaks of soaring, running, and walking. There are seasons when progress feels joyful and swift, and seasons when continuing quietly is enough for today. We should not despise the slower pace. A faithful walk matters, even when nobody sees how much strength it requires.

Ask God for what you need for the next step rather than every step at once. Rest when you need rest, accept help without apology, and give your attention to the responsibility before you. Your value is not measured by how much you accomplish while exhausted. Bring your limits to the Lord and wait upon Him there.
