The Peace Jesus Gives
Reflect on John 14:27 in the King James Version and the peace Jesus gives His disciples, a peace that does not depend on an easy or predictable day.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus spoke these words as He prepared His disciples for His departure. Their peace would not come from understanding everything that was about to happen. It would come from the One who loved them and would not abandon them. His gift was personal before it was a feeling.
The world's peace often depends on everything staying in place. Christ's peace can hold us when plans change and answers take time. This does not mean that His people never feel troubled. It means our troubled hearts have a faithful Lord to whom they can return.
Pause before the demands of the day. Read the passage slowly, then speak honestly to Jesus about what is troubling you. Let His words shape one practical choice: listen patiently, refuse an unnecessary argument, or take a quiet moment before responding. You do not have to secure the whole day before receiving His care in this moment.
