KJV Verses for Comfort in Grief
Read Psalm 34:18 and other KJV verses for comfort in grief, with gentle reflections on God's nearness, rest, and making room for sorrow.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
If you are grieving, you do not have to hurry through these words. Scripture can be read through tears, in silence, or beside someone who will simply stay with you. There is room to bring sorrow honestly before God.
Psalm 34:18 speaks of the Lord's nearness to the brokenhearted. Matthew 11:28 invites the burdened to Christ, and John 14:27 offers His peace. None of these passages sets a deadline for grief or asks us to pretend a loss does not hurt.
Choose a verse to keep nearby, and reach out to someone trustworthy if the day feels too heavy to carry alone. If you are supporting a grieving person, offer patient presence and practical care rather than quick explanations.
